Mobility grants to two researchers from the Department of Materials Science'Tutkijat maailmalle' is a research mobility programme administered by foundations operating in the fields of commerce and technology. The programme supports researchers who go on exchange to pursue ambitious research in a world-class university or research centre.
In the spring 2015 grant cycle, 22 researchers received a total of EUR 490,000. The programme attracted 85 grant applications. Two researchers from the Department of Materials Science at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) received financial support for a research period in an international centre of excellence.
MSc (Tech) Erkka Frankberg was awarded EUR 15,000 by the Technology Industries of Finland Centennial Foundation. He will spend a research period at INSA Lyon, France. His research explores the plastic transformation of aluminium oxide-based nanocomposites at room temperature.
DTech Hannu Teisala has received EUR 35,000 from the Walter Ahlström Foundation. He will be going on a two-year exchange to the Max Plank Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany. Teisala’s research interests are in superamphiphobic coatings and the collection of water from fog.
