Members appointed to the Academy of Finland’s research councils for the term 2016–2018The Finnish Government has appointed members to the Academy of Finland’s research councils for the next three-year term. Professors Leena Ukkonen and Kaisa Väänänen of TUT will serve on the Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering.
The Academy of Finland has four research councils that carry out the Academy’s tasks within their respective fields. One of their key responsibilities is to consider proposals for research funding. The chairpersons of the research councils are entitled to attend and speak at the meetings of the Academy’s Board.
The Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering comprises a chairperson and 10 members. The council is chaired by Professor Paula Eerola of the University of Helsinki. Two of the members, Professors Leena Ukkonen (Wireless Identification and Sensing Systems Research Group, Dept. of Electronics and Communications Engineering) and Kaisa Väänänen (Human-Centered Technology, Dept. of Pervasive Computing) represent Tampere University of Technology.
