Introducing FAST-Lab. – ASE Laboratory Tour at the Department of Automation Science and EngineeringThe Department of Automation Science and Engineering (ASE) will open the doors to its laboratories on Tuesday, 23 February. The event will open with a seminar on the activities of the FAST-Lab. research group. The department and FAST-Lab. joined forces at the beginning of 2016.
The seminar introducing the activities of the FAST-Lab. research group will be held in the FASTory environment in room RI208 of the Rakennustalo building from 9 am till noon. A presentation on the laboratories of the Department of Automation Science and Engineering as a whole will be given in the afternoon, from 1 pm to 3 pm. The facilities to be presented include laboratories in micro sensors, biotechnology, teaching, information security in automation, mobile machines and image measurements, all located on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of the Sähkötalo D wing.
The Department of Automation Science and Engineering and FAST-Lab. (Factory Automation Systems and Technologies Laboratory) merged at the beginning of 2016. The aim of the merger was to meet the new social challenges emerging in the fields of automation science and engineering as well as to boost related research and education. The Department of Automation Science and Engineering continues to operate actively with research that supports domestic industry and both national and international academic research. FAST-Lab. carries with it strong international research competence in particular, and the teaching it provides constitutes one of the most popular international majors at TUT.
The merger has not affected the facility arrangements of the department. Most of the departmental staff still works in the Sähkötalo C and D wings. FAST-Lab. continues its operations in its facilities located in the Rakennustalo L wing.
The ASE Laboratory Tour event and the seminar are open to everyone. No enrolment required.
