  • BSc Thesis Award to Riku Itäpuro

    The Finnish Information Security Association (FISA) has awarded the best theses written in the field of information security in 2014. The BSc Thesis Award was granted to Riku Itäpuro, who studies information technology at Tampere University of Technology (TUT).

  • Visit TUT's stand at Studia Fair!

    TUT’s students will manning a stand at the Studia Fair held on 2-3 December.

    The Studia Fair is the largest education exhibition in Finland and brings together thousands of young people interested in finding out more about potential study and career options. The fair is held on 2-3 December in Helsinki.

  • Board gives out 5 million euros to mark TUT’s 50th anniversary

    The Board of the TTY Foundation has allocated a substantial amount of funding to promote the development of research and education. A total of 5 million euros resulting from the Foundation’s invested capital will be given out over the next two years to mark the University’s 50th anniversary in 2015.

  • Exceptions to opening hours and longer loan periods!

    There are exceptions to TUT Library opening hours in December and January. On Monday, 1. December the library closes at 15:00 and the library is on a holiday break but loan periods are also extended.

  • Reaching the Limits of Computing Power

    In his doctoral dissertation of M.Sc. Waqar Hussain researches design and development from Single Core Reconfigurable Accelerators to a Heterogeneous Accelerator-Rich Platform. The findings of this research can have a ground-breaking impact on future electronic devices.

    Jorma Mäntynen joins the Board of RIL

    Professor Jorma Mäntynen has been appointed to the Board of the Finnish Association of Civil Engineers RIL. His three-year term will begin at the turn of the year.

  • Interface 2/2014: Synthetic bone graft straight off the OR shelf

    A biodegradable and synthetic bone graft material may one day be used to regenerate lost bone. The mastermind behind the innovation is Postdoctoral Researcher Kaarlo Paakinaho.

    Bone grafting procedures will become much easier as soon as a new biodegradable, synthetic bone material originating from TUT is ready to hit the market. The off-the-shelf material can be sculpted to fit the patient’s anatomy even during an operation.

  • Tero Wéman wins MSc Thesis Award

    Architect Tero Wéman who has graduated from the School of Architecture at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) has received one of the MSc Thesis Awards of the Oskari Vilamo Fund. The annual awards are granted to the best theses written in the field of construction.

  • Mika Hannula appointed to working group of vice presidents

    TUT’s Vice President for Education Mika Hannula will replace Jaakko Puhakka on the working group comprising vice presidents from TUT, the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Applied Sciences tasked with making preparations for strengthening collaboration between the three institutions.

    In his doctoral dissertation, M.Sc. Pavlo Molchanov studies non-cooperative automatic radar target classification. He scrutinizes radar applications including ground moving target classification, aerial target classification, unmanned aerial vehicles classification and pedestrian classification.
