World Championships of Academic Kyykkä on 11 February
The traditional team sport kyykkä originated in Karelia in Eastern Finland hundreds of years ago. The idea of the game is to knock small wooden cones called kyykkäs out of the game square by throwing a karttu (a wooden stick that resembles a baseball bat). The fewer throws the team uses, the better.
The World Championships of Academic Kyykkä, one of the largest student events in Finland, will be held for the 47th time in Hervanta, Tampere.
