DTech Satu Jumisko-Pyykkö wins Doctoral Dissertation Award

The Research Foundation of Information Technology (Finnish: Tietotekniikan tutkimussäätiö) has granted its 2012 Doctoral Dissertation Award to DTech Satu Jumisko-Pyykkö for her thesis titled “User-Centered Quality of Experience and Its Evaluation Methods for Mobile Television".

Jumisko-Pyykkö’s award-winning dissertation explores the perceived quality of mobile 2D and 3D video and audio. The results were based on extensive quality evaluation tests with more than 500 participants. Jumisko-Pyykkö’s findings demonstrate that quality perception is an active process that is influenced by the characteristics of the user and the system as well as the context of use and experiential dimensions.

Jumisko-Pyykkö’s dissertation has already attracted widespread international interest and multiple citations. Her findings have been widely published in scientific journals.
