DTech Leena Ukkonen appointed as Academy Research Fellow

The Academy of Finland has awarded a five-year research fellowship to DTech Leena Ukkonen from the Department of Electronics at Tampere University of Technology (TUT). Ukkonen’s research interests focus on advanced antenna technologies.

Leena Ukkonen pursues research on wireless identification and sensing systems. The objective of her research is, among others, the development of miniature antennas that could be implanted and integrated into such systems.

The Academy of Finland accepted about one tenth of the applicants for a research fellowship. The age of those who were accepted ranged from 30 to 39 and one fifth of them were women. More than half of the newly appointed Academy Research Fellows had post-doc experience of working abroad and almost a third were planning to spend more than 12 months working abroad during the fellowship period.
