Demola receives the 2012 Baltic Sea Region Innovation Award

The Demola Open Innovation Platform Concept has been selected as the best cross-border and cross-sector innovator in the Baltic Sea Region.

Demola is an open innovation platform for students and companies. It is a place where university students develop product and service demo concepts together with companies and create new solutions to real-life problems. In its first three years, Demola has spawned more than 200 service and product prototypes. The jury stated that Demola has under the leadership of Ville Kairamo made outstanding, innovative achievements in facilitating collaboration across the countries bordering the Baltic Sea and contributing to the development of a creative open platform concept in Finland and the wider Baltic Sea region.

The BSR Innovation Award is presented by BSR Stars and Baltic Development Forum (BDF). The purpose of the award is to promote global competitiveness and innovative development in the Baltic Sea Region. The award is worth 5,000 euros.

A total of 10 organisations, projects and networks from eight countries were nominated for the award.

“Demola is a pioneer in promoting the open platform concept that brings together students and companies from different countries,” says Ministerial Advisor Pirjo Kutinlahti from the Ministry of Employment and the Economy.
