Current composition of TTY Foundation's Board continues unchanged until 2018

The Academic Board of Tampere University of Technology has appointed four members to the TTY Foundation's Board for the term 1.1.−31.12.2018. MD, PhD Sirpa Jalkanen, DTech Antti Kaunonen, DTech Kati Korhonen-Yrjänheikki and DEcon Sixten Korkman were reappointed to the Board.

The appointment process was initiated, because the terms of four members of the seven-strong Board are scheduled to end at the turn of this year. In addition, the merger of Tampere University of Technology and the University of Tampere to a new foundation-based university at the beginning of 2019 affects the length of service on the TTY Foundation's Board.
 
MD, PhD Sirpa Jalkanen is one of the world’s foremost authorities on her field. She was awarded the honorary title of ‘Academician of Science’ in 2015. She also has experience of international entrepreneurship through her family business.  Jalkanen holds an appointment as Academy Professor in the Universitty of Turku. She has been an active and accomplished member on the Board of the TTY Foundation for two consecutive terms. She has served as the Vice Chairwoman of the Board during the current four-year term, which is now nearing its end. 
 
Doctor of Science (Technology) Antti Kaunonen is President of the Kalmar Business Area of Cargotec Corporation. He has a long and successful career in international technology companies in Europe, North America and China. He has occupied diverse positions in the area of business management, such as strategy, R&D and marketing. Kaunonen held a professorship in paper machine automation at TUT in 1998–2007. He has been an active and accomplished member on the TTY Foundation's Board for a term of four years. 
 
Doctor of Science (Technology) Kati Korhonen-Yrjänheikki is an expert on the development of higher education in the fields of engineering and an active participant in societal debate. Korhonen-Yrjänheikki headed the preparation of a national strategy for engineering education in Finland and is familiar with both the field and the key stakeholders. Her doctoral dissertation explored the strategic development of higher education in engineering, especially from the perspective of collaborative learning and stakeholder collaboration. Korhonen-Yrjänheikki is the Managing Director of the Education Fund. She has been an active and accomplished member on the TTY Foundation's Board for a term of four years.
 
Doctor of Science (Economics and Business Administration) Sixten Korkman is one of the best known economists in Finland and one of the most active participants in societal debate on economy. Korkman holds a professorship in Aalto University. He has been an active and accomplished member on the TTY Foundation's Board for a term of four years.
 
The Board of the TTY Foundation also includes Doctor of Social Science Nando Malmelin, PhD Tero Ojanperä and PhD Mari Pantsar. Their terms run from 2016 to 2019.
