Computational finance experts convene in Tampere

The partners conducting the HPCFinance project and Techila Technologies Ltd will hold an event titled "Conference and Training Event on Computational Methods and Technologies for Finance" on 13-17 May in Tampere.

”The event will focus on computationally intensive financial problems solved by means of acceleration on novel high-performance computing platforms," says Professor Juho Kanniainen from the Department of Industrial Management at Tampere University of Technology (TUT).

More than 20 leading speakers from the European computing and financial industry and academia, including Terry Spitz (Citi Group), Philip Bull (Microsoft), Professor Wayne Luk (Imperial College) and Professor Michael Dempster (University of Cambridge), will share their knowledge and expertise at the conference.

The event consists of a mini-conference at Sokos Hotel Ilves, followed by lectures and workshops at Tampere University of Technology. The detailed schedule is available online at: http://www.hpcfinance.eu/networking-and-training-event-tampere

The event is sponsored by the European Union.

The HPCFinance project increases financial stability

Triggered by a collapse of the U.S. housing market, the financial crisis quickly spread worldwide a few years ago due to the careless use of derivatives.

Standing at the interface of financial engineering and high-performance computing, the HPCFinance project develops robust volatility and interest rate models for pricing derivatives and managing financial risks. The network consists of seven universities as well as international banks and investment and technology companies. The project has received 4 million euros in EU funding.
