Article authored by Prof. Kauranen appears in Nature Photonics
The world-renowned scientific journal Nature Photonics has published a review article on nonlinear plasmonics authored by Professor Martti Kauranen from Tampere University of Technology (TUT). Plasmonics is one of the most intriguing areas of current research in optics and photonics. The field of plasmonics studies the interaction between light and metal nanostructures, which opens up opportunities for controlling light confinement and thereby allows weak nonlinear processes to be significantly enhanced.
The special theme of the November 2012 issue of Nature Photonics is plasmonics. The issue includes a collection of review articles by leading scholars in the field. Prof. Kauranen’s article, co-authored by Professor Anatoly Zayats from King’s College, London, explores nonlinear plasmonic phenomena that enable the manipulation of the colour of light and the production of all-optical switches, in which one beam of light is used to control another.
Nature Photonics is the leading international scientific journal in the field of optics and photonics with an impact factor of 29. Only a fraction of submitted manuscripts are accepted by the journal.
