The position of “Director, PR and Partnerships” is new and under the direction of the President. The position involves, among others, strategic partnerships and the development of partnership models and related internal policies and procedures. Strategic partnerships are established, for example, with companies and foreign universities.

Järvelin completed her doctorate at the University of Tampere in 2001. She wrote her dissertation on business relationships. Järvelin will transfer to TUT from Tredea, the Tampere Region Economic Development Agency. She has recently been “on loan” at Hermia Ltd, working as a development director and overseeing the international aspects of the national Centre of Expertise programme.

Up until 2004, Järvelin occupied various positions at the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. She has experience of working as a researcher, teacher, professor and the director of a research centre. She has collaborated with TUT, among others, within the framework of the e-Business Research Center eBRC that was part of the eTampere programme. She has also been involved in the TULI programme, which was funded by the Finnish Funding Agency of Technology and Innovation Tekes and has already been completed.

“I’m delighted to join TUT and believe that my past experiences will enable me to contribute to the University's continued success,” says Järvelin. “The position is new, exciting and entails a broad range of duties.”

Järvelin’s first step in her new role will be getting to know TUT’s organization and the campus community.
