Physics on the rise in subject-specific QS listingsQS World University Rankings by Subject has once again ranked TUT in three subjects: Computer Science & Information systems, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and Physics & Astronomy.
The annual QS World University Rankings by Subject comparison lists the world’s top universities in 46 different disciplines. TUT received rankings in three subjects.
TUT achieved its best placement on the Electrical & Electronic Engineering list, ranking between 151 and 200, the same as the previous two years. Top positions on the list went to big names from the US: MIT, Stanford University, and UCB.
Compared to previous years, TUT ranked especially well on the Physics & Astronomy list, ranking between 251 and 300. Since 2014, TUT has ranked between 301 and 400 on this list, and it was now raised to a higher category. MIT, Harvard University, and Stanford University received top ranking on this list.
TUT was ranked between 301 and 350 on the Computer Science & Information Systems list, whereas last year it ranked between 251 and 300. MIT, Stanford University, and Carnegie Mellon University were deemed best in this discipline.
In addition to TUT, other Finnish universities included in the ranking were University of Helsinki, Aalto University, University of Oulu, University of Jyväskylä, and University of Turku. Internationally, a total of 4,438 universities were evaluated for the listing. The final listing included 1,117 of these universities. The QS Ranking is a combination of publication data from the Scopus database and analyses made by QS Global Employer and Academic Surveys.
