University Services
The University Services unit ensures the University’s operational prerequisites by producing services required by the university community. The unit is responsible for preparing and implementing collective decisions. Services are produced either with the University’s own resources or offered through service contracts.
The units within University Services offer services relating to human resources, finances, studies, facilities, information management, research and innovation activities, and communications.
The operations of University Services fall under the responsibility of the director of administration. University Services comprises ten units that specialize in their own areas of activity.
Communications and Media Relations
The Communications and Media Relations unit is responsible for media communications and serves the media in finding experts and news stories and arranging photo shoots at the University. The unit develops the University’s internal and external communications and produces the University’s science magazine, marketing materials and content for online communication channels.
Facility Services
Facility Services coordinates facility rentals, renovations, security systems and the rental of multifunction devices. The unit provides technical and in-house services and is responsible for environmental matters, waste disposal, cleaning, furniture and signposts.
Financial Services
Financial Services is in charge of the University’s payments and accounting services and for preparing the financial statement. The unit coordinates and monitors annual operations planning and financial planning and internal follow-up procedures. In addition, the unit is responsible for procurement processes.
HR Services
HR Services manages the University’s human resources. The unit’s duties involve human resource planning, job advertisements, salaries and occupational health care services. HR Services coordinates human resources development, the provision of related training and activities that promote the well-being of employees. Matters concerning the election or appointment of members to the University’s administrative bodies, archiving and records management also fall within the duties of HR Services.
Information Management
Information Management oversees the development of the University’s information systems and information security policy. It offers services relating to telecommunications and information technology to employees, students and University Services and prepares license agreements and procurement contracts.
International Office
The International Office coordinates student and staff mobility, internships and international master’s degree programmes and takes part in international marketing and communication efforts and the development of information systems that are available in English. The unit concludes international exchange agreements, maintains contacts with partner universities and prepares statistics on international mobility.
Library
The Library serves the information, educational and research needs of the University by acquiring and maintaining collections and information resources and taking part in the administration of the University’s learning environment. The Library is open to the public and local services are available to all visitors. In addition to the Main Library on the TUT campus, the University has a branch library at the University Consortium of Pori.
Planning Services
Planning Services coordinates the University’s operations and financial management and the related follow-up and reporting procedures. The unit is responsible for developing different measures specified in the University’s strategy. The employees of the unit prepare matters that come before the President and Vice Presidents and act as presenting officials or experts in the various administrative bodies of the University. The unit also follows national and international developments that concern universities and their interests groups.
Research and Innovation Services
Research and Innovation Services provides support services relating to research collaboration and the commercialization of research results. The unit maintains close contacts with the remote units of the University, the scientific community within the University and external stakeholders.
Student Services
Student Services provides services to the students, faculties and departments. The unit coordinates the student admission process and student marketing efforts. Companies that have vacant positions or open internships or thesis placements are advised to contact the recruitment services.
