Portfolios and descriptions of the positions

TUT portfolios

Portfolios are used as part of the University's appointment procedure to provide documented evidence of candidates' achievements over time. By preparing a portfolio, candidates can demonstrate their academic accomplishments and competencies in an organized manner. The recommended length of a portfolio is 4–5 pages, which does not include possible appendices.

At TUT, the term teaching portfolio refers to an employment portfolio that candidates prepare to demonstrate their competency for a position or professional achievements. A teaching portfolio should concisely demonstrate the candidate’s teaching accomplishments, teaching philosophy, views on the development of teaching and self-evaluations of teaching. There are two teaching portfolios at TUT: general teaching portfolio and tenure track teaching portfolio.

Research portfolio and Academic Leadership and Activity in Scientific Community portfolio are used in research oriented positions (e.g. tenure track positions).

When applying for a teaching position or a tenure track position at TUT, candidates must prepare required portfolios according to TUT’s instructions.

Description of the position

Descriptions of positions are used when filling a vacant tenure track position. The descriptions are available for the duration of the application period.
