Biomedical Sciences and Engineering

The Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering is a multidisciplinary unit of high-quality research and education in the fields of biomedical engineering and health technology. The faculty and its over 140 staff members are responsible for teaching and research in the fields of bioimaging, biomaterials, biomeasurement, biosensors and biorobotics, personal health technologies, experimental and computational biosciences, and cell and tissue technology.

High-quality interdisciplinary research

The Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering conducts significant foundational and applied research on both a national and an international level. The Faculty promotes high-quality research that brings about new innovations and commercial activity.

The Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering works in close collaboration with the University of Tampere through the BioMediTech Institute, bringing together experts from many different disciplines of biosciences and biomedical engineering. At BioMediTech, the Faculty’s expertise in research is combined with expertise in medical science, biology, and behavioural sciences, creating new innovations and solutions in the fields of health and well-being.
