Studies
It is possible to major in signal processing in the TUT international masters program in Information Technology. Application period for the program ends annually in March, and accepted students start their studies in Autumn. The department provides a major and a minor in signal processing, both fully in English.
Signal processing studies methods for processing and interpretation of the natural world through signals acquired in digital form together with their software implementations. As such, the topic provides challenging opportunities to join theory and applications together. The mathematical theory of the lectures becomes live, e.g., in the exercises while implementing a digital filter in C, or while designing a 3D-model of your own face.
The TUT study guide for exchange students covers various aspects of studying in TUT and living in Tampere. There is also a list of our course descriptions given by our department and other departments.
Signal Processing is one of the key research areas of TUT, and the department holds a Centre of Excellence status of Finnish Academy of Sciences. This can be seen also in the studies: The topics are state-of-the-art, and usually they include an industrial perspective brought by visiting lecturers.
The pages of the Faculty of Computing and Electrical Engineering and the TUT international masters program give more information on how to apply to study in the department.
