Projects
Below you will find short descriptions of our ongoing and older research projects. You can find more detailed information about each project via the menu on the left or by clicking the project link.
Current research projects:
E-SCOP project aims to overcome the current drawbacks for the shop floor control level (i.e. MES and deterministic / real-time control), thus improving the state of the art of the overall production control system architecture. This goal is achieved by introducing an innovative approach based on the combination of 3 different pillars, namely: i) embedded systems, ii) ontology-based knowledge management and iii) service- oriented architecture.
The URB-Grade project designs, develops and validates a Platform for Decision Support that will allow the city authorities and utilities to promote and choose the correct actions to upgrade a district to become more energy efficient, cost effective and to increase comfort for its citizens in a District as a Service Platform (DaaS Platform) approach.
ReDia project intends to develop a generic high-sensitive but still low-cost immunoassay concept which is based on nanoparticle labels and a microfluidic assay cartridge with self-contained ready-to-use reagents, featuring simple "add only sample" -principle.
AC-Desk concentrates on the development of desktop manufacturing and assembly systems and their sub-systems, focusing on biomedical product solutions.
Adapting Innovative Development for Sustainable Area (AIDA)- project aims at changing current project based concurrent engineering oriented practises towards dynamic adapting process based integrated systems that suit better to sustainable area development within fast changing reality.
Desite project aims to study the possibilities and consequences of site-specific production.
The objective of the eSONIA project is to realize the asset-aware and self-recovery plant. The expected outcomes of the project are: greater predictability of plant behaviour and visibility, reduced safety risks, enhanced security and cost efficiency.
AESOP project will investigate a Service-oriented Architecture approach for monitoring and control of Process Control applications (batch and continuous process).
PLANTCockpit will suggest a model for integrating heterogeneous shop floor management systems including ERP, MES, SCADA, condition-based maintenance, energy management, and other special-purpose systems. Research results of the PLANTCockpit project might provide production supervisors, foremen, and line managers with the required visibility to make well-informed decisions to optimize plant processes. This includes the holistic visibility of the plan, the current status, deviations, exceptions, and bottlenecks.
ASTUTE aims at defining reference architecture for the development of HMIs, targeting proactive information retrieval and delivery based on situational context, as well influenced by information content and services, and user state information.
The LIFT consortium will develop innovative laser sources with intelligent beam delivery systems and dynamic beam manipulation, in continuous-wave, nanosecond pulsed, and ultra-short pulsed femtosecond laser sources, operating at power levels ranging into the kilowatt regime.
