About us
The Department of Mathematics is responsible for teaching core mathematics to all engineering students at Tampere University of Technology, and offers B.Sc., M.Sc., D.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes in mathematics. The faculty of the department conducts research in mathematics and its applications at an internationally competitive level.
IISLab is a research, education and service unit that was established at the Department of Mathematics in 1994 under the name of Hypermedia Laboratory. It is responsible for research in intelligent information modelling and studies in hypermedia.
Tampere Mathematic Center, a cooperation body of mathematics, was jointly founded by the Department of Mathematics at Tampere University of Technology and Mathematics and Statistics at University of Tampere.
The personnel consist of 7 professors, 7 lecturers, and a number of technical staff, researchers, assistants, and sessional teachers, as well as research assistants and trainees.
The Head of the Department is Seppo Pohjolainen and the Vice-Head Keijo Ruohonen.
