Duties

The main task of the Language Centre is to ensure that students graduating from TUT have effective language and communication skills. Undergraduate students form the main clientele but the Language Centre also supports post-graduate students and staff in developing their skills in language and communication. In addition, the Language Centre offers tailored courses.

You may also inquire about proof reading and translation services, which are offered privately by some of the Language Centre teachers.

Work community

As a work community the Language Centre is vibrant and multi-cultural; our staff consists of 10 different nationalities, each of which adds their own spice to our work and daily interaction.

Co-operation

The Language Centre works in close cooperation with other Finnish university language centres. It also belongs to the Finnish Language Centre network, FINELC, while in Europe the centre is an active member of CercleS.

Facilities

The Language Centre is located on the second floor of the ‘Konetalo’ building, which houses not only all the teaching and learning facilities but also the teachers' offices and the Language Centre office. Our flagship facility, PAJA (the Forge), empowers learning through state-of-the-art technology including iPads and the SmartBoard. The Language Center also offers self-study facilities for the students.
