IHA Rauma, a remote unit of Department of Intelligent Hydraulics and Automation (IHA) has been founded in 2003 and in 2005 it got its own hydraulics research laboratory close to the Rauma harbour.

From the beginning the unit has done close co-operation with the area’s industry. For the reason the unit has specialized to research and development of marine and ship applications. During the units history our researchers have studied inter alia hydraulic oils for broad temperature range, stand-alone winch, self-diagnostic hydraulic hose, use of digital hydraulics in marine hydraulic applications, the special features of arctic hydraulics, compact hydraulic modules for hatch covers and control systems of propellers.

In addition to the above-mentioned projects our laboratory has tested inter alia low pressure seals and magnetic filters.

As a result of these projects the unit has published

IHA Rauma is a functional link between the areas industry and TUT IHA. As our partner in co-operation you have IHA’s international networks, research recourses and expertise at your disposal.
