Cooperation with industry is essential to IHA’s activities.

Academic partnerships gererates knowhow and networks from where IHA can get grounding and advance for industrial services. Part of information has been processed to industrial benefit in the recearch centres.

A significant part of the funding of the unit comes from projects together with industry. IHA is very active in the network of Strategic Centres for Science, Technology and Innovation (SHOK). IHA is participating in two research programs in two SHOK areas, namely CLEEN (Cluster for Energy and Environment) and FIMECC (Finnish Metals and Engineering Competence Cluster). The research program in FIMECC is EFFIMA (Energy and Life Cycle Cost-Efficient Machines, 2009-2013). The research program in CLEEN is FCEP (Future Combustion Engine Power Plant, 2010-2013).
