Studies in department of Business Information Management and Logistics

The department offers courses available for every student in both major and minor studies and in several degree programs in TUT. Courses are arranged often in co-operation with companies. The courses can include for example company excursions, visit lectures by organizations or different kind of exercises done for the companies.

Studies in transport systems include economical and ecological planning of road, railway, water as well as air traffic and transport. Topics such as environmental effects of transport, road safety, transport and environmental policy, transport economics and public transport are covered on our courses.

Studies in logistics concentrate on logistics issues related to trade and industry. Logistics and the management of supply networks are explored in connection with the strategies and competitiveness of companies.

Information and knowledge management studies rise to business challenges driven by information technology, financial management, leadership issues and communication. The students are able to analyze information and knowledge management both from the business and technology perspectives and acknowledge the significance of information and knowledge management to organizations and information society in general.

Futures studies is a field of knowledge characterized by interdisciplinarity. The aim of Futures studies is to analyze images of the future and distinguish possible, probable and preferred (normative) futures. The courses are organized in co-operation with Finnish Futures Academy (http://www.tvanet.fi).
