Department of Information Management and Logistics

Research

We have about 30 simultaneous projects with an annual volume of approximately 1,5 Me. Read more about our research projects on business information management or transport systems field.

Research activities at the Dept. take mainly place in two research groups:

  • NOVI Research Center (5 professors) is relatively young and innovative group with diverse research topics. Its research is related to the acquisition, utilization and management of information and knowledge in organizational context.  Research focuses on information systems, knowledge-intensive service operations, intellectual capital management, knowledge management, business intelligence, organizational learning and media management. See also pages of Performance Management Team.

  • Transport Research Centre Verne (two professors) has a forty-year-long tradition of educating experts on traffic planning, transport engineering and logistics. Research on transport systems focuses on assessment and management of transport demand and interaction between urban form and transport.

Diverse research topics and heterogeneous groups allow us to conduct multidisciplinary research, as an appropriate expert will always be found “next door”. For example:

  • business intelligence methods as data mining are used in railway systems research,
  • expertise from product lifecycle management and computer supported cooperative work are combined in the social media context,
  • intellectual capital theories help in understanding the value creation of mobile information systems,
  • and logistical analysis with business process modeling in hospitals.
