Department of Chemistry and Bioengineering

The Department of Chemistry and Bioengineering contributes to science and engineering in Chemistry, Bioengineering, and Energy and Environmental Engineering. At present, it has two internationally strong research areas, Supramolecular Photochemistry and Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology. The Department has very strong societal impact through excellent partnerships with Industry. The foundation of Department strategy is in the common long-term focus: new and sustainable concepts and processes for resource recovery and development of renewable energy technologies. The strategy implementation is started immediately by forming three research groups of the former five. The research groups are Industrial Bioengineering and Applied Organic Chemistry (5 professors), Supramolecular Photochemistry (2 professors) and Power Plant and Combustion Technology (2 professors).
