Name: Saumyarup Mukherjee
Home country: India
Degree programme:Business and Technology
I have chosen this programme because of its uniqueness. Management studies go by the name of MBA and hundreds of universities all around the world offer MBA programmes. Our programme on the other hand does much more. It teaches us to be managers in the competitive B2B world, an unknown territory for many young people.
My studies in this programme are going very smoothly. The lecturers are highly qualified and the guest lecturers provide practical perspectives to the studies. Also, the TUT has given me a chance to work with a company from the USA for studying the markets in India. I think this is the most attractive aspect of this programme. Company projects are important for gaining relevant work experience.
The relaxed environment in TUT makes us feel at home. The best thing about Finland in my opinion is the trust - no one steals and there is almost no crime. I feel safe here, no matter where I am and what time it is. Finns are also very helpful and they never say no if you ask for help. I plan to stay in Finland and work here after I finish my studies.
The student life in Tampere is full of fun and frolic. Back at home, I thought that my life during the bachelor's was the best, but now I have changed my mind. During the summer, we have the opportunity of participating in numerous outdoor sports like volley ball, foot ball, climbing, etc. The best part in the summer is the possibility of getting close to nature, swim in the beautiful lakes in the bright sunlight, and of course enjoy the delicious barbecues. And during winter, of course we can ski and skate, along with floor ball, basketball, indoor climbing, judo, etc., which are there for us to enjoy throughout the year in the indoor arena. Also, in the winter we get warm in the sauna, a part of Finnish culture, which is a great place to fight the cold. The student life in Tampere also includes parties. They happen almost every weekend and they are the best places to meet new people from different parts of the world and learn about their country.
For those students that are thinking whether to apply to TUT, I would like to say: Experience it, you will not regret it!
