Master's Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering
Become Master of Science in Electrical Engineering!
The International Master's Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) offers qualified students a two-year programme of study in one of the following areas: RF electronics, wireless communications and smart grids in electrical energy distribution. This is one of the eight English-speaking master's degree programmes of TUT.
When applying to this programme, the students select their focus area from one of the following: radio frequency electronics, wireless communication circuits and systems and smart grids. A rich variety of minor studies and supplemental courses are available as well as the opportunity to combine two or more of the major subjects listed above. In fact, each degree is a unique combination of studies the individual student has found most interesting.
What can we provide?
The programme aims to provide students with the expertise needed to become employed in today's high-tech business sector or in academic research or in a range of other work opportunities. Furthermore, the programme aims to provide students with a solid understanding of the fundamental facts and theories that underpin our engineering solutions today and in the future. The programme offers a multicultural and innovative study environment. When students take the courses that include laboratory and/or practical work, they will have access to our impressive research facilities at TUT. We believe in learning by doing!
Three departments are involved:
The programme in Electrical Engineering run by the Faculty of Computing and Electrical Engineering involve the following departments:
- Department of Electronics
- Department of Communications Engineering
- Department of Electrical Energy Engineering
Who can be admitted?
We accept students who hold the Bachelor of Science degree from an internationally recognized university either in electrical or electronics engineering, communications engineering or any equivalent discipline related to the programme and especially to applied major. Work experience is an advantage but not a requirement. As all teaching is in English, proficiency in both written and oral English is required.
About the degree diploma
The programme leads to the degree of Master of Science in Technology. This award is in accordance with the official degree system of Tampere University of Technology and the Finnish higher education regulations. Following successful completion of the programme, students are eligible to apply for direct entrance to the doctoral programme in electronics, electromagnetics, communications engineering, digital and computer systems engineering, signal processing, power engineering or power electronics.
