Master's Degree Programme in Biomedical Engineering
The Master's Degree Programme in Biomedical Engineering is ideal especially for research and development oriented students seeking for new challenges for their career. The curriculum satisfies the high demands of students with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or in more traditional engineering fields, such as electrical, material, or computer engineering. The programme integrates several engineering fields and biosciences, emphasizing problem solving in medicine and biology by applying engineering tools and methods.
Biomedical Engineering is an essential element of modern health care and clinical medicine as well as of research in biosciences. Application of electronics, sensors, information and communication technology, computational modelling and biomaterials with deep understanding of the theory and modeling of vital physiological systems of the human body have had a crucial impact to the basic research and the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods and devices.
The curriculum is coordinated by the Department of Biomedical Engineering and it is carried out in close collaboration with many other departments of Tampere University of Technology, scools and departments of University of Tampere and the local University Hospital. Tampere region and especially BioMediTech, a joint institute of the two universities at Tampere, enable a multidisciplinary research and education from genetics to engineering.
Our programme offers students a high quality education and challenging classes. Depending on your study background, you can choose from several focus areas and elective courses to complete your degree that meets your personal ambition and interest. Tampere University of Technology and BioMediTech provide an innovative and multidisciplinary environment for MSc and PhD studies.
