Doctoral programme in Engineering Sciences

The Doctoral Programme in Engineering Sciences is headed by Professor Risto Ritala.

The Head of the programme oversees the administration, development and coordination of the programme in collaboration with the Doctoral Programme Committee and the programme coordinator.

The Faculty of Engineering Sciences is the only faculty at Tampere University of Technology that is solely focused on technology.

The programme covers the following research fields: automation science and engineering, energy engineering, mechanical engineering and manufacturing technology, and materials science and technology.

We offer doctoral students a high-quality research environment and the opportunity to complete the Doctor of Science in Technology degree in a timely fashion.  Students who successfully complete the programme acquire the skills and competencies needed to pursue a research career or other challenging professions associated with engineering sciences.

The programme is primarily intended for talented and motivated students who are prepared to pursue doctoral studies on a full-time basis and conduct research that meets high international standards. Full-time students complete the programme and earn a doctoral degree in four years. Applications are accepted all year round.

The University’s general instructions that apply to all doctoral students are available in the POP portal.
