Application process
Submitting your application
The first step in the application process is to register as an applicant using the online application registration form. You can find the link to the form on the How to apply page.
After you have registered, send all the required documents enclosed with a print-out of the application registration form to TUT within the application period.
All the required documents must reach TUT by 28 February 2013. All application documents should be submitted as one complete package.
You may only apply to one programme per application form. Applications to one TUT programme cannot be transferred to another programme. In other words, you must submit a separate application to each programme that you are interested in.
Please note that incomplete or late applications and applications containing documents that are not properly authenticated will not be considered. All the required documents must be enclosed in one envelope. Documents sent by email or fax, or applications submitted through a third party (like educational agencies or consultants) will not be considered.
As TUT does not charge an application fee, applications will not be returned. Please take this into account and do not submit any original documents.
Application processing and academic assesment
The International Office at TUT will process all the applications and check the applicants' general eligibility, i.e. check the authenticity of the documents, make sure that the application contains all the required documents and that the applicant fulfils the language requirements.
The International Office will inform you by email when your application has reached TUT. Please note that it may take a few days to process your application so the email will not be sent to you immediately after your application has arrived at TUT. At the same time you will be notified if there is anything missing from your application. Therefore it is important that you keep checking your email account regularly during the application period for any requests to supplement your application. TUT will use the email address that you have given in the application registration form.
Applicants have the right to supplement their applications, submitted within the deadline, during fourteen (14) days from the expiry of the application deadline. This means that possible supplements to the applications must reach TUT by 16.15 on 15 March 2013.
Admission committees at the faculties assess the applications and rank them based on study achievements, language skills, CV, motivation letter and recommendation letters. The admission committees have different schedules depending on the programme and therefore students cannot be informed of their application status during the application process.
Admission results
All applicants fulfilling the requirements cannot be granted admission. A limited number of the highest qualified students will be accepted in the programmes. There is no fixed quota for the annual intake of international students at Tampere University of Technology.
All applicants will be informed of the decisions by email by early May. The names of all the admitted students (who have given permission to publish their names) will also be published on this website. The official acceptance letters will be sent to the admitted students in early May.
Please note that you can only be admitted to one programme.
Demanding for rectification of admission results
Applicants dissatisfied with the admission decision may appeal against the decision by submitting a written appeal to Tampere University of Technology within 14 days of the publication of the results. Such an appeal must be delivered to the International Office of Tampere University of Technology.
The following information must be stated in the appeal:
- The decision that you are appealing against.
- The appellant's name and home town. In case an authorized representative or spokesperson is acting on the appellant's behalf or the appeal has been prepared by a person other than the appellant, his/her name and home town must also be stated.
- Address and phone number so that the appellant may be contacted during the process. An email address may also be provided.
Applicants have the right to know how the admission criteria have been applied to their individual case. For more information, please contact admissions (at) tut.fi.
